Aurora
Aurora
Hello, I just wanted to drop a few lines and a couple of pictures of Aurora. We adopted her February 14th, 2010 and we renamed her "Lita". She is very healthy weighing in at 80 pounds and nothing but muscle. We are so very happy that she has become part of our family. She loves to go walking and her favorite thing to do is to swim! She is like a fish and if you go swimming with her....you better be faster than she is! She is very competitive in the pool! She is very protective of her family and we wouldn't have her any other way. Thank you so very much for providing the service that you do. All dogs deserve a good loving home and I wish I could take them all. All of you at Coastal GSR "Thank You and keep up all of your hard work". I hope you enjoy the pics of her now. Thank You, The Fields Family

Hi Miley, All is well. The two girls wore themselves out playing in the backyard just as I hope. My Bo got a word in but he’s fine and Mali knows to leave him alone. Thank you for taking good care of her, she is truly a sweetheart. She is so gentle and sweet, really puts Bridgett to shame. I’ll send updates now and then.

Hi Alex, Just wanted to touch base with you and give you an update. I think we picked the perfect dog for our family. He is great with Jonathan, Jonathan can climb all over him with Banjo not even batting an eye and he plays ball with him! Lukas (other dog) is still coming around to him, Banjo just wants to play 24/7, while Lukas acts like a grumpy old man!

Hi Diana, Cooper is doing well. He is now about 33lbs with very (very) long legs at 4 months. He is quite lanky. He is in full bloom testosterone overload and wanting to get his adult teeth although nothing yet. He and Lita do well together with Coop trying to exercise his alpha maleness. Even though he is taller than she, Lita manages to maintain control over him. Following is a picture from our trip with Cooper on the "perch" that allowed either dog to view the world. He did quite well (as did Lita) in our 5000 mile trip. Lots of fun.

Hi Alex- Can't believe it has been a month already since little Miss Dixie became a member of our family. As you can see by the first photo -- she is such a goof-ball -- tries to climb in the dishwasher every time I load but is getting better. She is very smart and has picked up the commands quickly with the trainer -- she has commented has smart she is but will be a handful ha ha! She loves Tara -- and Tara is getting HER pay back by her actions with our Jenna :) She enjoys her recent walks around our block and is so curious to every "new" thing. Today we saw a real estate agent get out of her car and pick up her sigh -- amazing watching her being amazed. The groomer is coming for the first time for her on Thursday and that will be interesting. She LOVES the sprinklers! We all love her so much and she has adjusted into the family very nicely. We looked on the web site and looks like all the puppies are adopted? I hope a nice family will adopt Danika. Thanks again for taking care of our baby before she was our baby.

Hi Ashley, I thought I’d send you a quick update on how Ziva is doing. She is doing awesome!! You weren’t kidding when you said I’d have a “shadow”. She follows me everywhere. This morning when I took my shower she laid down in front of the door. Such a wonderful girl! She is eating good. After trying different foods we finally found one that she likes and I approve of. She also trains very easily. She has a great want to please. We had some housebreaking issues at the beginning but I think it may have been resolved now....knock on wood! She had her first vet visit. She is now on supplements for her hips. I also have noticed she has gotten a lot stronger. She flies up the stairs now, no longer has trouble walking on tile, and loves to go on long walks. She doesn’t play fetch, though. I’m going to see if I can work on that so she can get some more exercise plus I think my kids would enjoy it. She loves the kids. She’s still getting used to the cats and vice versa. I can see small steps of progress every week. They will come nose to nose but they aren’t quite sure of each other yet. I could go on and on about what a wonderful dog she is. We are all so much in love with her. She is funny in that she will not go outside unless someone goes out with her. Does Butch do this? Any ideas why she is like this? I also noticed she isn’t into toys. We have tried different ones and the only one I got a reaction for was a duck but she ripped it to shreds and I was afraid of her ingesting it and had to put it away. She doesn’t care for balls, her bone, ropes, or any toy that doesn’t look like a real animal. I was curious if Butch had any behaviors that Ziva may also have since they were both in the junkyard together. If only I could read her mind. I attached a couple pictures. One is her eating. She cracks me up with her eating style. And the second is with one of the cats. Thanks again so much for all your help. Sandi proud Momma of Ziva

Hi CGSR, We adopted Amy (now known as CoCo) from you guys back around December - she has grown into such a great family dog! We are grateful almost daily for the hard work by her foster mom, Cindy, to get her healthy and crate-trained. It made her transition into our home so much easier, & she still loves her crate. She fits right into our little family and we love her! She especially loves our kids. I just wanted to send a few pics, so you can see how much she's grown :) Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

Richter
Richter
Hello, My husband and I adopted Richter from Coastal German Shepherd on 10-7-2012 and wanted to let you know what a wonderful addition he has been to our family. We love him so much and he is the best dog we could have hoped for. Attached are pictures at Christmas and in his raincoat. (he’s not a fan of the rain) We didn’t know his history when we adopted him and wanted to ensure he’d have a happy life with us, so we took Coastal’s advise and hired Vladae (Russian dog wizard) to train us to handle Richter (a dominant Cane Corso mix breed). Because of the training I am comfortable and confident walking Richter alone. (he now weighs 124 lbs) Richter enjoys his walks and loves his big backyard. He’s learned to play ball, although he doesn’t understand the concept of dropping the ball so we have two balls for him to chase. His favorite thing to do is curl up on one of his three beds and lounge. He is very easy going and doesn’t require a lot of activity. My husband and I are considering adopting a friend for Richter or fostering a dog, possibly through Coastal but are not yet ready to commit. One of our concerns is the cost of another big dog. Richter has had some costly medical bills (he was diagnosed with CAD (Canine Atopic dermatitis) and has had problems with arthritis in his back, both of which he is on daily medication for). He is doing really well on the meds. Thank you for rescuing our baby from death row at the LA shelter, we are so happy to have him.

Hi Miley, I just wanted to give you an update on Indy (Sheba). In short, she is doing great. I adopted her in late July and it wasn't always easy. I am not sure if you remember but she used to cower in fear and pace around the house and backyard. She was anxious and had a tough time just getting comfortable. That is behind us and we are now in a really good place. We go on walks or adventures almost every day. She is still somewhat fearful but we have taken obedience classes to help with that. We finished basic obedience and have moved on to intermediate classes. She still has some work to do to build up her confidence but everyone who met her in the beginning has said that she has made a lot of progress. I am proud to say that Indy get lots and lots of compliments when we walk because she is so beautiful and well mannered. Indy is a quiet dog and is content to hang out and relax but will quickly get up when she sees me pull out her leash. She is great on road trips and is ready to go wherever I go. She is pretty much the perfect dog!

Rommel
Attention Miley- I just looked cgsr on line per the Christmas card. Thought I would drop a line and let you know how Rommel is doing. His personality started to show a couple of months after he came home with me, and now he is a full on ham. I receive compliments on Rommel wherever we go and people are amazed at how gentle and easy going he is. He has become my constant companion going to the office with me daily. He has traveled onboard next to me several times for work to Florida, Mexico, Colorado and for thanksgiving we are driving to Montana with side trips to Yellowstone and Wyoming. I was truly fortunate to find such a great friend and I am grateful everyday that you guys were able to save him. I have enclosed some photos (they are from our most recent trip to Florida, the first is from the San Diego airport at the "Pet Relief" station, the second is from the day before after a haircut to keep him cool in the heat). If your ever down for a day let me know and we can meet up so you two can catch up! Take care, Jerry Johnson & Rommel

Hi Everybody, I just wanted to say hello and check in with you about our beautiful girl, Teddie. We absolutely love her. She is so sweet, we feel so blessed to have her in our home as part of our family and our pack. She is a stubborn girl, no doubt about that, and a total mommy's girl. She loves the kids and despite Yogi and Bear being so bonded, has wiggled her way right into the pack with the two of them and they all play, share bones, mouth play rolling in their beds, on the carpet, it's pretty adorable. I don't know if you have this picture or not, this is how she is most of the time, although, we had been out all day and she was worn out! It was a really fun day though, we were out and about here there and everywhere and she loved it. I take her out with me a lot, she is so easy everywhere we go, no one minds that she's with me when they see how mellow she is. She gets into the car and lays down, and when we get to wherever we're going, people always want to pet her, tell me how beautiful she is, etc, and can't believe that we adopted her, which is my excuse to pitch rescue & adopt!!! I'll get more pictures with the kids and family and send when I have a chance, I am taking her to our vet tomorrow at Northwood Animal Hospital to have her fecal re-tested now that she has finished her giardia treatment, she had an ear infection, so we're re-checking that too, and she'll have bloodwork just to get a baseline as we move forward each year. She is so affectionate, just a big kissy face love bunny. Thank you so much for choosing us to be Teddie's parents. She is one of our "bears" now, Yogi, Bear and Teddie are a perfect fit, in addition to my human cubs, Jack and Brycie. We are beyond thrilled, happy and grateful, she is pure joy. Thank you so much!!! Deb Finder & family

Good evening: Almost about a year ago, we adopted a dog from you. She is our lovebug. Her name was Maya with you guys and we didn't change her name. She is wonderful with our four year old. She loves our acre of land and fenced in yard. We often go to the doggy park or go on walks or even jogs a couple times a week. She is very loving but protective. We could not be happier with her. She even goes to work some days with my boyfriend. He is a marine and she sometimes joins him and the other marines for physical training...

Hi Michelle, Omg the puppies are so beautiful we love them!! I am concerned about Denali he has had diarrhea for a few days now I think it started because I gave him a bone that had peanut butter inside and then I tried to correct it with brown rice and chicken broth now I have him on white rice and boiled chicken per the suggestion of the banfield pet hospital. I just want to know if I should take him to the local vet or if there is someone that is partnered with your organization that would be more affordable? Thanks Michelle! Here are the twins... Armani & Ariana!
Junior
Junior
Hello everyone, I just wanted to give you a little update on Junior, who picked me for adoption in May 2010. (I sat down in the middle of a wriggling mass of puppies--about 11 or so--at Beth's. Junior walked up and laid his head against my shoulder and I was a goner.) He was very sick with pneumonia and quite underweight, but after a couple of months of antibiotics and good food he recovered, filled out, and became a happy, healthy, playful dog and my constant companion. He has the most wonderful temperament--he loves other dogs, cats, and all people. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him just like I did! (And everyone has a different idea about what kind of dog he is. The top guesses are chow chow, Australian shepherd, and German shepherd mixes, followed by border collie and even Rottweiler. Go figure.) Thank you so much for saving this sweet, sweet boy! Dana Dalpiaz
Glitter
Glitter
Glitter came to us in April 2013 as a sweet timid girl. On the day she came home, she caught us a rat though she is blind in her right eye. Obviously, having vision in just one eye is no limitation for our Glitter girl. After a round of training with Vladae, she is now a lot more self confident. We want to thank Sanika and Beth for answering our questions any time of the day during the early days. Thank you Coastal for giving us this beautiful glittering princess.

Hi Kim, Yes, thank you for helping take care of this sweet girl until we could find her. She is the sweetest ever. She is adapting to life as a spoiled dog. See how much she loves her new dog bed? Let us know what are good days and times. We'd love to bring Kiwi to visit. Stephanie

Hello all, I just wanted to send some pictures of Murphie (formally known as Dawn). She started obedience training yesterday and did very well considering that she was the second youngest in the class. She is being trained at Thinschmidts (alldogstrain.com) and is in a class with 90% German Shepherds. Our goal, if she is interested, is to Schutzhund train her. Anyway, she is an incredible puppy and we are so lucky to have her. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be apart of her life.
