Bella is available ( Updated 12-01-2023 )
Bella is a very pretty German Shepherd who came from an Inland Empire shelter. We aren't sure if she was a stray or an owner turn in. The shelter estimated her age as 3-4 months old but a vet said she has her full adult teeth so she is more like 9-10 months old.
Bella is in an experienced foster home with other rescue dogs plus the foster's own dogs. She has come a long way in terms of getting along with other dogs. She has some favorite playmates but she needs a little time to make dog friends.
Here are some observations about Bella that were made by her fosters:
She is friendly with people.
Bella is house trained. She also has been trained to use a dog door.
She is crate trained and is comfortable in her crate when other dogs or people are around.
She walks well with a pinch collar.
Bella can be leash aggressive. She may not have been well socialized as a young dog which can make her defensive around new dogs.
She will need a secure yard. She can jump over a 4 foot wall.
She responds well to affection and loves to cuddle. Since being in a foster home, she acts like the playful young dog she should be. She is getting better each day as she settles in her foster home.
She is not very treat or toy motivated unless it is a high value treat like cooked chicken. But - she likes raw broccoli. Go figure.
Bella is a very lucky girl because she was rescued and is cared for by foster parents who love her and give her what she needs. Everyday Bella is a little more self-assured and confident and acts more like the playful young dog that she should be.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
