Fostering a dog can make all the difference in helping them find a forever home. Dogs in shelters often struggle to show their true personalities—they're anxious, overwhelmed, and overlooked, especially if they're past the "cute puppy" stage. But as a foster parent, you can change that!
By welcoming a dog into your home, you help them shine. Do they love playing ball? Do they walk nicely on a leash? Do they adore cuddling or playing with stuffed animals? These small details help potential adopters see the real dog behind the kennel bars, making it easier for them to find their perfect match.
The Need for Foster Families

Every day, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue receives calls to save dogs in overcrowded shelters. Many are at risk of being euthanized simply because there's no space. Without foster families, we face heartbreaking decisions, leaving us unable to save dogs in desperate need.
When you foster, you're not just giving a dog temporary shelter—you're giving them a second chance at life. You're giving them hope.
How We Support Our Foster
Families
We'll work closely with you to find the dog that's the best fit for your home and lifestyle. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way, offering advice, resources, food, beds/supplies, vet care and support whenever you need it.
Worried about getting too attached? Many foster families tell us they felt the same way at first. But they also share how incredibly rewarding it is to see a dog thrive in their care and go on to find their forever home. That joy makes it all worthwhile.
