FAQ
Welcome to the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue FAQ page! We know you might have questions about our organization, the adoption process, and how to care for German Shepherds. This section is designed to provide quick, clear answers to the most common questions we receive. If you need more detailed information, we've included links to other helpful pages on our site.
Where do Coastal GSR's dogs come from?
Our dogs come from a variety of backgrounds, including local shelters where they are often on the euthanasia list, as well as owner surrenders and strays. We rescue them with the goal of providing medical care, rehabilitation, and finding them loving homes.di numquam, error, est. Ea, consequatur.
What is the history and mission of Coastal GSR?
Coastal German Shepherd Rescue was founded with the mission of rescuing German Shepherds from high-risk situations and placing them in caring, permanent homes. Our history is rooted in a passion for saving these intelligent and loyal dogs, ensuring they have the opportunity to live the lives they deserve.
Are the dogs trained and potty trained?
While some dogs may have basic training, not all are fully trained or potty trained. We do our best to assess each dog's behavior and training needs, and we offer guidance to adopters on how to continue training at home.
Why might someone not be chosen to adopt a dog?
Our top priority is finding the best match for both the dog and the adopter. Sometimes an application might not be successful if the home environment, lifestyle, or expectations aren't aligned with the needs of the dog. Our goal is always to ensure a successful and happy placement.
Can people adopt a dog from Coastal GSR if they live out of state?
Yes, out-of-state adoptions are possible, but they may require additional steps such as a home visit by a local rescue partner and arrangements for transportation. We'll work with you to ensure everything is in place for a smooth adoption.
Where does the adoption fee and donated money go?
Adoption fees and donations directly support the care of our dogs. This includes medical treatments, food, shelter, and other necessary expenses. Every dollar helps us continue our mission to rescue and rehome German Shepherds.
How is the funding used to support the dogs and the organization?
Funding is used to cover veterinary bills, medications, spay/neuter procedures, training, and boarding. It also helps with operational costs such as maintaining our facilities and supporting our volunteer network.
Where can I find a purebred German Shepherd?
Coastal GSR often has purebred German Shepherds available for adoption. You can check our Available Dogs page to see the current dogs looking for homes. Adopting a dog from a rescue helps give a dog in need a second chance.
Why should I adopt a dog from Coastal GSR instead of getting one from a breeder?
Adopting from Coastal GSR means you're giving a dog a second chance at life. Many of our dogs have faced challenging circumstances, and by adopting, you're providing them with a loving home. Plus, adopting helps reduce the demand for breeding and addresses the overpopulation problem in shelters.
