Xena

  • Female
  • 4-6 months
  • German Shepherd Dog

Xena is a gorgeous puppy. She will be a large girl and she appears to be purebred GSD. She is 4 months old.

For a 4-month-old puppy, you would think that her life has been kind of easy-peasy up to now. What kind of stresses could a 4-month-old pup have? Well, Xena was rescued from a ravine out in Riverside County that was next to a popular on-line retailer's warehouse. The security guards spotted this puppy, helped captured her and called Coastal GSR to help. By the way, Xena is not the first GSD to be rescued from this ravine by Coastal GSR.

It is a miracle that this puppy survived. She was dehydrated, starved, and covered with foxtails, fleas, and ticks. She was rushed to a vet where she remained for treatment including IV fluids, antibiotics, and flea/tick medications. She eventually went to an experienced foster home where she currently resides.

In spite of her rough beginning, Xena is a personable, happy puppy. She loves to cuddle, is house trained, and loves to bury her bones and treats because you never know when you will need them. She has a few scars that are healing but is otherwise is a gorgeous girl.

Xena is not totally out of the woods health wise. Her blood and urine were recently checked, and she may need some more antibiotics (which Coastal will supply). Her vet also recommends that she not be spayed until she is at least one year old because of her size and also because of her delayed development living in the ravine at such a young age.

Whoever adopts Xena will get a gem. A sweet, happy, beautiful gem. She is not currently living with other dogs, but she does very well with people. Coastal GSR is looking for the best home possible for this little survivor - is that home yours?
