Poor Willow was found hit by a car with a litter of 10 young puppies. Animal control shoved her, injured and alone, in a kennel at the shelter and took her babies away, giving them to a local foster to raise so the shelter could adopt them out when they were older. Willow received no medical care and lay in her run, unable to get up, for 5 days (until her stray hold was up). We could not let this poor, young mom be put to sleep after being treated so horribly and having her babies taken away, so we rescued her and promised to give her the medical attention she needed.

With a lot of effort, we were finally able to pull Willow off the shelter's euthanasia list and get her to one of our vets for x-rays and treatments. X-rays revealed a shattered pelvis, with 7 separate fractures. Not only could Willow not get up, but she was also not able to go to the bathroom. She was rushed into surgery to repair the fractures, but unfortunately majority of the fractures were actually older than we were lead to believe and had healed too much to be able to move and set them. While the Surgeon couldn't re position the bones, some of the shattered pieces of her right hip socket were removed and the vets performed an FHO procedure to relieve the pain of the ball of the femur from hitting the socket bones.

Willow has been recuperating all summer and has finished up her physical therapy. Getting a clean bill of health, she is now ready for a home of her own! She is a very sweet girl who loves everyone, is well mannered in the house, house broken and walks nicely on a leash. She enjoys running around the yard and playing with her toys. She loves going for walks and has just enough energy to have fun, but also be easy to live with. If you are looking for a devoted, wonderful companion Willow is your girl.
