After spending weeks in a city shelter, Violet is now in a foster home. She hasn't figured out what to make of the whole situation, but she definitely does not want trouble with her foster siblings! She has met the kitties in the house and again, just didn't want trouble. We assume she's probably never been allowed inside a home as she is very tentative as she stands on the threshold. It is truly heartbreaking that she was probably kept as a lawn ornament all her life, only to be cast away like yesterday's garbage. We are certain that a few more days in her foster home, following the example of her foster dogs, she will find herself adjusting to a normal existence as a companion animal.

Here's an update from Violet's foster family:

She's been socialized with a lot of diffrent dogs and people, and no longer has a problem with men. Violet has broken way out of her shell, and will let you know when it's her time for affection. She loves her crate, since it looks over the living room. I actually have to close her out of her crate so that she'll come out more. She just wants to hang out with us for the most part, but she'll play some with us and the other dogs. She's easily intimidated by other dogs though, so if a heated game of fetch is being played she would rather observe from the sidelines.

She won't jump on the furniture with us until she's clearly invited, and even then she'll only stay until we're done petting her. . She rides great in a car, and loves checking out new places. This being said, she can get excited and pull the leash kind of hard. Once she gets calmed down she's great on a leash though.

She's a very sweet dog who wins the heart of everyone who meets her.
