We received a plea for Tyler, who was at a high-kill Inland Empire shelter after he appeared to have been hit by a car. His front right elbow was badly fractured and his owner was contacted, but didn't come to retrieve him. He's only about 2-3 years old, but he was in a lot of pain and the shelter decided he had until 5 PM that day for a rescue to step in or they'd be euthanizing him.
We rescued him and he went straight to our vet. The orthopedic surgeon found his elbow to be in such bad shape that, even after 4 hours in surgery, it wasn't fixable and his leg was amputated. He's had a few weeks of recovery and is getting around like a champ, but will get even better as time goes on! This handsome boy is good with people, gets along with large and small dogs, and is an all around gem of a GSD.
