Trixie and her "Tykes" were rescued from a high kill shelter when their time ran out. They were scheduled for euthanasia, and even though we didn't have room, we could stand to see this young family die in the shelter. They were all turned into the shelter when the pups were approximately 2 weeks old. While the shelter tried to do the right thing buy putting the family in isolation for two weeks to reduce the risk of disease, no one noticed that the pups were covered with fleas and that Trixie was having a hard time feeding and caring for all 8 puppies. Thankfully we were able to save them and get them deloused and wormed and into the vet for much needed medical care. While all the pups were anemic, only the smaller ones required a transfusion. With the help of good food and vitamins with iron, once the flea burden was removed, their packed cell volume has improved.

The "Tykes" are very happy and active pups. While they are currently on the small side, they are gaining ground everyday. They are very sweet and love attention. They ave very active and love to play with toys. They are also good with other dogs, having been exposed to many big dogs in their foster home. These darling boys and girls will be a good fit with any family. The "Tykes" will be ready for their new homes around July 14th.
