Sterling is a European import who, unbeknownst to his breeder, was sold to a third party. He then landed at a high-kill shelter, which is how we met this gorgeous boy. We rescued him and, once safe with Coastal, connected with the breeder, who is now trusting us to find the best home for this big boy.

Sterling walks amazingly well on leash and knows basic obedience. He is your typical working line dog: he has a high play drive, loves toys, balls and the water hose (with caution, it's all play to him but he will bite at the hose). Ideally, he will need an adopter who is willing to take him through more training and let him work and outlet his energy. This is a dog who wants something to do and he's definitely not a couch potato. He takes treats very gently and is food motivated (but not at all possessive- we can take things right out of his mouth), which makes him highly trainable. Due to his drive and energy level, we think he'd do best in a home with adults and/or older children.

We think Sterling would be best-suited with another large, balanced dog who won't react to his energy, but instead will help teach him the finer points of doggie manners. At just a year old, Sterling has his whole life ahead of him and is a real gem! He has had some medical issues and does best on a prescription novel protein diet and B12 supplements.
