Our volunteers who where "home" for the holidays (one volunteer) made an absolutely heroic effort to save Stella and her babies. She got the call that it had to be done on Christmas eve. There was no time to wonder where the money would come from, nobody to post a plea for donations. There was only the faith on the part of our volunteer that this emaciated mother and her babies had to be helped, even if it meant other dogs would have to be left to their fate after the emergency passed.

It didn't even matter that when we met Stella, we realized that neither she nor her puppies where close to being German Shepherds. This is what we do. Stella's puppies were just too sick and malnourished, despite the best care we could give, none survived. Stella, as you can see, has been transported from hell to a foster home with another of our superhero volunteers where she's getting all the TLC in the world. Stella is a sweet girl.
