Sonja and her brother Flash are part of an 8 puppy litter born to a mom rescued from a wilderness area in Stockton, California. They were born on August 19th in the rescuer's home.
The mom - Nala - is a full German Shepherd. We don't know what the father was but was most likely another GSD or a similar breed large dog. Nala followed her rescuer as she was hiking and eventually trusted her enough to go home with her. Nala gave birth to the puppies about a month later.
Flash and Sonja moved to a foster home with three large German Shepherd dogs. They fit right in and made themselves at home. Sonja is the bolder of the two puppies and will try to discipline Flash and the three older dogs if she thinks they are not obeying her rules. Sonja and Flash sleep in a puppy pen and are one step away from being house trained. Not bad for 9 week old puppies.
