Sona, whose name means gold in Sanskrit and represents her both inside and out, is a pretty blond female with a heart of gold. She and her 7 pups were out in 110 degree weather searching for shade. Sona was doing her best to protect them from the heat. When she was found by animal control she was in critical condition from heat exhaustion. Thank goodness she was picked up when she was. Despite her unfortunate circumstances, she has done an amazing job taking care of her babies- she has 7 robust puppies to show for her efforts. The kind shelter workers transferred her and the babies from a far flung shelter closer to a Coastal Volunteer to get her to safety sooner. While they were loading her for the trip, she was so concerned her little ones would be left behind that she refused to get into the vehicle until the transporters showed her babies to her.
Sona is severely underweight as all her resources went to caring for her little ones. After arriving at her foster mom’s home- she gladly took a break from puppy duty and let her foster mom deal with the little ones. She joined her foster brothers and sisters in the yard to stretch her legs and have a little fun. Being a single mom is a tough job and it’s not often you get a reliable babysitter that agrees to look after 7 babies!!
Sona is very gentle in every way. She didn’t know what to do with the treats at first, but she really blossomed in the first 48 hours. She is a very bright girl and will happily spend some quiet time in a crate. Sona will be looking for her home soon. She is eager to please and is an extremely loving girl simply looking for the same.
