We received an email about a dog who was at the shelter and needed rescue. The email stated, "Abandoned- night drop." We saw a picture of a young, terrified dog, slouched against the wall, trying to disappear, and decided we needed to go get him ASAP.

Smokey spent a few days at the hospital, had multiple tests run, was given some vaccines, then came and joined the pack. He can be shy when first meeting strangers, but he opens up fairly quickly. He is probably not even a year old, loves to play with other dogs, chase toys around the yard, check in for pets and kisses, then go and do it all over again. This adorable pooch didn't know how to walk on a leash, but he picked it up really quickly and now knows his basic commands, to boot. Some have guessed he's got some Belgian Malinois mixed in there (he's only around 50 pounds), but we have no idea. What we do know is that he's adorable, friendly, and going to make someone wonder how he ever ended up in that drop box at the shelter.
