Shasta

  • Female

We swooped in at the last minute to save Shasta from a local shelter where she was marked for death simply because she had an ear infection! She’s a sweet, affectionate, and attractive girl with piercing yellow eyes that look right into your heart and beg you to love her.

Shasta has some drop-eared genes, and her long, soft ears give her a gentle appearance. In fact, she’s friendly and easy-going with all she meets, both human and canine. She gets along well with small dogs, too. She’s especially good with her foster mom’s 4-yr old granddaughter. But don’t let her laid-back demeanor and low-key looks fool you. Shasta is a great watchdog, and ready to protect and defend her people and territory whenever needed. Her ears and eye color make us suspect that her non-Shepherd side may have been a hunting dog of some variety, and her temperament is a nice mix of always-alert guardian and determined tracker.

Shasta is crate-trained and doesn’t mind napping in her private space while you’re out. She’s a medium-large girl who needs a bit of help to watch her weight. As constant as her mountain namesake, Shasta would like a medium-active family to which she can devote herself forever and be a best friend for life!
