Sargent
- Female
When we first rescued Sargent, he had two rotten hips, a death sentence hanging over his head and not a lot of options. It has taken us time to get his surgeries & rehab completed but we can say that 2011 is Sargent's year!!!! How do we sing his praises?
Let's start with 100% house broken, he will even let you know when he needs to go. His foster parents work during the week so Sargent is home alone most days - he is bomb proof - he doesn't chew anything, he treats his toys with respect, he adores his dog beds. When his family gets home, they take him to dog parks where he will play with dogs of all sizes. He gets a ton of activity and just because he has bionic hips, don't think he is limited on his exercise. While Sargent may not be a candidate for marathon running, he LOVES hiking, he is wonderful on a leash.
Sargent's foster parents have worked on his obedience and he is quite learned - he sits, stays, shakes, spins and knows how to go out. He loves to learn and would be a great fun project for any family that wants to do advanced training. Sargent is also a very typical shepherd in that, he will absolutely let you know if something is going on outside of his home - he will definitely let you know what is going on!
Over the Christmas holidays, Sargent got a foster dog buddy which he LOVED. Bo, recently adopted, was a senior boy who loved everyone - these guys had a ball and we know that Sargent would do great in a multi dog home but would also be fine as an only dog.
Sargent sleeps through the night on one of his many beds - while he is crate trained, he also likes to spread out and hog multiple beds. One last thing about our buddy, Sargent....we think that, with proper introduction, Sargent would be fine with cats - he really does love everyone.
