Roxxi

  • Female
  • 6-9 years
  • German Shepherd Dog

Roxxi is a very special girl. She was originally rescued from Phoenix when we discovered she was pregnant. Sadly, the shelter aborted her babies and she was devastated. It took her some time to get over that terrible ordeal, but she became a wonderful, vibrant doggie.

She was adopted, but recently came back to the rescue because of some challenges the family was having. We noticed that she wasn't acting normal and took her to an Ophthalmologist. Unfortunately, Roxxi has Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome (SARDS). She's basically going blind and will forever be that way.

There's nothing that can be done, but to find her a family that understands her special needs and will love her just the way she is. There isn't any medication to give her and it's not painful. This explains her weight gain, because dogs with this disease have a tendency to gain a lot of weight. Short but frequent walks will be best to start.

Could you be her angel and either foster or adopt her into your home? You will learn that she gets along just fine and it will make your heart feel good to give an animal in need a loving home! She deserves a second chance at a good life.
