Coastal GSR was contacted by a southland shelter that let us know a tow truck driver, who was moving an abandoned car, found a box containing three puppies inside the car. The puppies were estimated to be 5 weeks old. There were two males and a female and their foster family named them: Ranger, Rolo, and Rooney.
Who does that kind of thing? We don't know; we ask ourselves that question almost every day.
The puppies were treated by a vet for parasites. Otherwise they were tiny but healthy pups. They have been with a foster family that has large dogs, small dogs, and young children. The children love them and have spent lots of time holding and playing with the puppies.
Rooney is the sister and she has piercing blue eyes. Typically eyes this blue are found in Huskies, Weimaraners, Australian Shepherds and Border Collies. It's possible that Rooney is a mix of one of these plus German Shepherd, like her brothers. Rooney is a fun pup who likes to be involved in whatever is going on - wrestling with her brothers, playing with the children, or just hanging out watching the world around her.
