Raven

  • Female

How did Raven end up as a stray at a high-kill city shelter???? One meeting with this girl and we knew we had to figure out how to make room for her. At about 70 pounds, Raven is an average-sized female with striking good looks and a calm, serene, and friendly temperament. She has an unusual facial marking, with a darker spot over one eye, which makes her quite unique. She’s probably between three and four years old (our best guess), and we know that she’s already had too many litters. Raven is now spayed, and when her belly tightens up she’ll be quite a glamour girl.

Friendly and happy around other dogs, she can also stand her ground. In her foster home, Raven lives with eight other dogs of all ages and both sexes. She gently corrects younger dogs if they get too rambunctious, but generally tolerates their enthusiasm. She might not do well with a very dominant female dog. Raven enjoys people immensely and seeks attention. She appears to have good potty habits, with no “accidents” in the house.

During Raven’s spay surgery, our vet discovered some mammary tumors and removed them. The biopsy results showed that the masses were not malignant, so Raven has an excellent prognosis for a long and happy life. She doesn't have much, if any, obedience training, but she learns fast and wants to please. A basic obedience course to polish up her skills would be a good idea. She enjoys a walk on the leash but is also happy to sit quietly for hours with her foster mom. Raven is crate-trained and has been dewormed.
