Penelope couldn’t be much luckier! A Good Samaritan found her in the middle of the road at 2 AM and stopped to help. She couldn’t get up on her own and was noticeably very underweight. Her heroes took her to an emergency hospital where she was treated before being picked up by animal control.
Only around a year or so old, she was emaciated and weighed in at just 37 pounds, had bloody diarrhea and was vomiting, but tested negative for Parvo. The shelter sent out an email asking for a rescue to help this sweet girl and we couldn’t say no. She was taken directly to our vet where she was licking everybody’s face as they try to examine her.
Since leaving the hospital for her foster home, she's put on some much needed weight and is doing great! She gets along with dogs of all sizes, but doesn't like high energy/rambunctious dogs who play toohard and in your face. She's a lady, after all. She is a petite and shy pup who likes to be with her people all of the time and craves affection. Penelope is crate trained, potty trained, and ready to join her forever family. She would do best in a home with another large playful dog. Could that be with your family?
