Mikey, his two brothers, and his mom, Tasha, came from a sad situation in Bakersfield. They had been abandoned in a field and rescued by a caring group of volunteers who gathered them up, had them examined by a vet, and then placed them with a temporary foster. Other than fleas and ticks, the three puppies were healthy but they had been feeding off of Tasha, the mom, and she was nothing but skin and bones.
When Coastal GSR was asked if we could help, there was no way we could say no. We had a foster family offer their help and we rushed Tasha and her pups to them.
Mikey looks the most like mom who is a Belgian Malinois but we think that all three boys are mixes of Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd. (See Mikey's brothers Monty and Milton) Despite being born and spending their first month under desperate circumstances, Mikey and his brothers are doing great! Mikey is a semi-tough little boy who likes to wrestle with his brother Milton. The two of them take turns taking each other down. It's pretty amusing to watch!
Mikey has a gorgeous red coat and is going to be a very striking, good looking dog! He is part Malinois so be prepared to give Mikey lots of training, activity and socialization! If you have ever considered doing agility training with a dog then Mikey is your boy!!! He would not mind having another buddy to hang out and play with. Actually, we think that Mikey needs another canine buddy to help release some energy and to show him how to be the best pup he can be.
Mikey is crate trained and potty trained. He is a smart, good looking pup!
