Marty

  • Male
  • 6-9 years
  • Chihuahua

Lorraine and Marty spent their whole life together in a home, but when their owner passed away they were taken to the shelter. We don't typically rescue Chiweenies, but we saw a GSD whose owner had died, was very scared at the shelter, and we wanted to help her. Then we read that she came in with a bonded pair of Chihuahuas/Dachshund mixes and we couldn’t leave these two approximately 7-8 year olds behind, so we offered them a freedom ride and they accepted!

There are so many perks to adopting a bonded pair of small dogs. One, you're adopting a dog who already has a partner whom they know and love, so you don't have to worry about being a chaperone and getting them out on "dates." Two, they've lived together their whole lives and have figured out each other's love language. (Pro tip- it might be snuggling.) Three, and this might be the biggest one, is that their poops are so tiny! I've never had a Guinea pig, but these poops can't be much bigger. You don't even notice that there are two dogs going to the bathroom because all of their poop combined isn't as big as ¼ of a GSD's poop.

The only downside we can see is that Marty and Lorraine are so great, you might want to adopt a second pair of bonded dogs. That'd be fine by them, as they get along well with other dogs. These two are total cuddle bugs, like to give out the kisses, and would love to join a family who loves to cuddle. Marty can be shy with strangers, but warms up quickly and will come ask for pets. Lorraine is a little more cynical about your motives and may keep her distance at first, but, before you know it, she's your ride or die.

As Lorraine and Marty are a bonded pair who would like to stay together, we will only adopt them as a duo (for just one adoption donation).
