Loretta
- Female
Loretta's story is a special one; she is looking for a unique owner - one that will love this senior girl and give her a fairy tale ending for the years that she has left.
Look in those eyes...do you see the years of sadness coming through? Do you see the body that has been mistreated and ignored for years? We couldn't look away, even though we know that Loretta is a senior and she certainly has a lot more mix than Shepherd in her. Sometimes we just have to say yes, even when the checking account is low and the bills are high. No one cared about Loretta, but we do.
Found tied to a tree in an abandoned backyard, Loretta had been without food or water for a long time. When we finally got her out of the shelter, she smelled worse than ANY dog we'd ever rescued. Our kind boarding operator bathed her immediately - after FIVE baths, she was still dirty. The sixth one did the trick - with good nutrition, her coat is softening up and is the prettiest tan. Loretta suffers from arthritis but her mobility has improved with good food and a constant soft bed. She also has cataracts and is nearly blind.
The good news: Loretta is so gracious and calm - she is grateful for any kindness. She learns her surroundings in about 15 minutes. Loretta has a voracious appetite! She loves Greenies and treats - even though she has just a few teeth left, she gives it the old college try every time!
