Meet Loki. He is a darling 4 month old German Shepherd Puppy. Like any other puppy he has lots of energy and is very playful. He is incredibly smart and learns quickly. He thrives on routine, is crate trained and doing well on his housebreaking.

What makes little Loki different is he has a condition called megaesophagus. His esophagus doesn't work properly so he has to be fed in an upright position and be kept upright for 10 - 20 minutes after eating. Congenital ME in puppies can resolve as they grow older and we are hoping that he will be one of the lucky ones and his condition will improve as he grows up. If not, he will have to continue to be fed upright and monitored for the rest of his life. Because of this, his new family will have to understand this a manage him properly to prevent aspiration pneumonia.

There is a lot of information on this condition online, here is a link to a site with a basic overview:

We want to thank the wonderful folks at Bailey Chairs 4 Dogs for the donation of their awesome chairs for Loki to use! for more information on Bailey Chairs 4 Dogs see their website: www.baileychairs4dogs.com/.
