Ken
- Male
- 3-5 years
- German Shepherd Dog
At 3 years old, Ken was surrendered to a high-kill shelter by his own owner. We don't know what led to this decision, but Ken wasn't doing well at the shelter and became "rescue only." We were able to save him and quickly fell in love with the big lug. It doesn't appear that anyone had ever worked with Ken before and, while he's an enthusiastic young boy, he had no manners and couldn't walk nicely on a leash. This gorgeous boy got much better, was walked by numerous volunteers, and does well on a leash, knows his basic commands, and is super food and toy motivated.
Ken just completed a dog training boot camp and did fantastic! He learning a lot and is ready to join his forever home. When you adopt Ken, you will also receive an in-home training session with his current trainer, so that you and Ken are both set up for success!
Ken is a dominant personality and, while he has done well with dogs who ignore him, he would currently do best as the only dog in the home (although he's fine with leashed dogs and doing better all of the time).
