We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Father’s Day this year!

We heard about a mamma and her six puppies whose owner had to move and left them all at the abandoned house. The real estate agent took Nella and her newborns to the shelter and let them know that the father of this litter had been rehomed by his previous owner. Thanks to a foster home, we were able to save Nella and her newborns and they settled in like champs and thrived in their new environment.

About a month later, an unaltered male GSD turned up at the shelter. He was covered in foxtails and not doing so well. We found out that he was the male who had fathered Nella’s litter and whoever had taken him from the previous owner hadn’t chipped nor altered him and then never came to redeem him from the shelter. Due to the enormous amount of incoming dogs, he didn’t have long before he would be in danger and, as he was so timid around new people and loud noises, he wasn’t being considered by the general public. We knew that we couldn’t leave a member of this family behind, so we welcomed Julius into the Coastal family. 🤍

We can’t say enough about this big boy! He’s a gentle soul who is so sweet, dog friendly, and going to make someone feel like the luckiest person on earth. While he takes a minute to warm up to new people, he shows zero aggression and is your best friend within the hour. We are so happy to welcome the father of Nella’s litter into the rescue and were happy to celebrate Father’s Day with such an amazing boy!

Around 2 years old, Julius still had some open wounds and we weren't sure that there weren't more foxtails embedded inside his paws, so he got a vet appointment to make sure that he’s foxtail free. He's doing great, is now neutered, and can't wait to find his forever home.
