Heidi

  • Female

We received a plea from a woman who works with homeless cats and she shared Heidi's very sad story with us. It seems Heidi ID #4232053 lived her entire life with a homeless man on the streets of Los Angeles. From time to time, the cat rescuer would help Heidi's owner with things that Heidi needed. The homeless man took the very best care of Heidi that he could. Recently, Heidi was found roaming the streets thin and bewildered. After doing a little bit of asking around, it was found out that Heidi's owner had passed away on the streets and Heidi has been searching for him for the past 5 months. Before a rescue could be found, Heidi was picked up by animal control and now sits on death row. Heidi needs to be rescued this week! Her situation is urgent. She is 10+ years old and only deserves the best in her senior years. She is sweet, unassuming and grateful for any kindness you show her. She gets along with other animals. Her strength and will to survive on the streets has gotten her this far, we need to help her get the rest of the way to safe and warm home.

Update 1/27/11

Heidi will be exited from the Baldwin Park Shelter tomorrow morning. She will then go to her long term foster home. Heidi has had a long stay at the shelter and we are guessing that she will be thrilled to be out!

Heidi was exited from the Baldwin Park Shelter on Friday. She headed straight to her foster home and was a bit bewildered. Early reports from her foster home show that Heidi was decompressing from the years of stress. She is sweet and gentle and appreciates any favor given her.

Here is an update from today 2/1:

She is starting to come out of her "cubby" more, really starting last night. It is so cute. I think she is catching up on her rest because it is evident she wants to participate. It is too cute.

You can see a difference in her face already too, she just looks better. And now she had that look of "where is the treat sir" whenever I go to her, and her routine must be kicking in too because around meal time she has that "and where is my bowl" look on her face. Her appetite is fine and she loves treats.

She just needed someone to give her a break, and she deserves it!
