Little miss Heidi is full of life, love and energy! When she is excited, she can be a bit "jumpy," asking for affection, but she is easily corrected; Heidi quickly gets in a sit position and has learned that's when she will be praised and pet. She's very responsive to her name and is a smart girl who simply wants love!
Around six years old, she walks fantastically on leash and loves going out on long walks and hikes. She's house trained, crate-trained and does just fine at home alone with her canine buddies while foster mom is gone. She has also been through basic obedience training. Heidi absolutely loves playing with toys, especially her Kong Wubba. Though she currently has doggie friends around, Heidi would likely do just fine as a solo dog, too. She lives with large dogs but has been around small dogs on walks and hikes and hasn't shown any 'special interest' toward them.
You may notice in some of her pictures that her nose looks a little funny. Unfortunately, Heidi got her nose bit in the boarding kennel. Poor 'lil thing now has a Miss Piggy look! It just adds to her character.
Though Heidi doesn't have much prey drive (as mentioned, she seems ok with smaller dogs), she does have a tendency to want to 'herd' people. She responds to correction but for this reason, Heidi will do best in a home with adults only or teenagers/young adults as small children may be too much for her. We should also mention, Heidi is particularly fond of women. We think her ideal home would be a single woman or a female couple with an active lifestyle who will commit to keeping Heidi exercised and entertained. She's an exuberant, playful little thing but no 'softies' or couch potatoes for Heidi!
Though she has energy, Heidi's also quite content to curl up on a dog bed or in her crate for quiet time watching TV. With the right leadership and activity, Heidi promises to return the favor with lots of love, kisses and tail wags!
