Greta

  • Female

Greta has found herself homeless. Her mom is heartbroken but has to give her up. Here is a note from her mom:

She is 4 years-old. I adopted her from a German Shepherd rescue center in Indianapolis, Indiana, when she was 8 weeks. Her mother was on-site and was a Golden Retriever mix. When Greta was 4 months-old she was hit by a car (a hit and run), and it left her front right leg paralyzed from the shoulder down, her back left leg broken in half, and her left lung punctured. The vet put a rod in her back left leg until the bone healed (however she won't put all her weight on that leg - I don't think the bone healed correctly) but her right front leg never regained feeling. About a year after her accident I had to amputate that leg because she was chewing on it as it was becoming cumbersome to her and she was possibly feeling "phantom pain."

Greta is a complete sweetheart and gets along with other dogs (mostly medium to large). She is used to living with another dog; for the first two years of her life she lived with a Rottweiler and the second two years her buddy was a Golden Retriever. She also lived with three cats, and gets along with them fine.

Above all, Greta is a complete sweetheart and a total snuggler. At night I usually let her sleep in bed with me. Again, in a perfect world I could come back and get her one day. I have to be realistic and understand that is probably not an option at this point.

I hope this is enough information for you. If you need her records faxed to you, let me know. All her shots and everything are current, and she is spayed.
