Three gorgeous young shepherds, known only by impound numbers, had been sitting at a rural county animal shelter waiting for their fate. These three dogs had every human turn their back on them and have no real reason to be nice and friendly dogs. After being let out of an unsecured yard, they roamed the rural city looking for food and shelter. They were shooed away and scorned for being in people's yards. No one offered even an ounce of help for this weary trio. Being smart and intelligent dogs, they stayed together and formed a pack to protect themselves. They soon became labeled as aggressive by the community and residents demanded their capture. All three of them were picked up by animal control as they rummaged through an abandoned trash can in a remote alley. They were immediately labeled as "aggressive" and put on the short list at the shelter.

Coastal German Shepherd Rescue-OC saw their pictures and saw eyes filled with sadness and despair but with a glimmer of hope. We began the work of getting formal behavior evaluations done. Working through the red tape of the county shelter was lengthy and tedious. One Saturday morning the phone call came and we were given the great news that we could pick up one of the dogs. A volunteer made the three hour drive and came back with a sweet, yet very scared, young boy (Gunner) who has no idea of the peril that his life was in. A few days later, we were alerted that the other two dogs (Gelsey and Gallagher) would be released as well! We made the long trip again, and the wearisome trip was safe!

We need your help to make this rescue effort come full circle! All three of these dogs (Gunner, Gelsey and Gallagher) need foster homes or adoptive homes. After all they have been through, boarding is not an option for these three. They deserve a foster home to show them love and loyalty. These dogs will blossom with boundaries, routines and affection. They are gorgeous, young dogs who appear to be very resilient and have an amazing will to overcome and survive. We have been relentless in our fight to save them from death row and now we need YOU--our loyal supporters and adopters!
