Ellie is a young, super sweet, gorgeous GSD who found herself living at Devore, a high-kill shelter. She was available for public adoption and was quickly snapped up, because her temperament is amazing, only to be returned because her new family was worried about her hips and elbows.
Ellie was then put on the euthanasia list and quickly running out of time, so, when we had an open spot, we invited her to join the Coastal family. Maybe only 1.5 years old, she went directly to our vet for an exam and multiple X-rays to see what was going on with her hips and elbows. She then had a consultation with Dr. Sebestyen, an orthopedic surgeon, to see what we could do to give her the future she deserves. Since she's a young, happy, playful girl who doesn't struggle and loves to run and play with other dogs, he suggested no surgery until she shows that she's having issues. She will probably need surgery 6-7 years from now and, as we are aware, we would pay for that surgery. Ellie is a beautiful girl, inside and out, and we wouldn't want her to miss out on a great home because of what might happen in the future.
This young beauty gets along with other dogs, can play with the best of them, adores people, but is young and mouthy which wouldn't be a good fit for young children.
