A desert shelter reached out for help after taking in a beautiful GSD from the side of a remote road in the sweltering heat. Clearly having been hit by a car, Durango has a severely broken hind leg with an open wound. The shelter was given permission to release him to a rescue early, due to the severity of the injury.
Even though clearly in severe pain, Durango was completely calm and gentle. Because the injury is so traumatic, his leg needed to be amputated, but he's already getting around like a champ.
Durango is like a kid in a candy store when it comes to people- he can't get enough affection and is super loving. We're sure he'd do fine with kids, although he can get a little jumpy when he's excited. This handsome gem is basic obedience trained, crate trained, potty trained, walks well on a leash and is learning how to be around other dogs. He wasn't socialized when rescued, but we've been working with him and he's come a long way. This absolutely adorable boy is really just a super sized, coated puppy. Everything is new to him and he's having a blast figuring everything out.
