Drew
- Female
This sweet little boy is recuperating from a hip replacement.
Drew is a classic black and tan boy with a terrific personality. He has a lovely plush coat and needs to gain some much needed weight. He has a touch of gray on his jaw which gives him an air of distinction - we think he's around 4 years old.
When Drew arrived at the rescue, we noticed that he didn't put a lot of weight on one of his back legs. After a set of xrays, it was very clear that his left hip is in serious disrepair. Fortunately, his other hip is solid from an orthopedic perspective. Drew has just undergone surgery and is on crate rest in a foster home - he will be ready for adoption shortly. This surgery has given Drew the opportunity to lead a normal, active life after his rehabilitation.
Drew is an all around good guy. He will bond tightly to his person and will thrive in just about any situation - he enjoys the company of other dogs, adults, kids, you name it - Drew's in!
Update 7/3/05
Drew's progress continues to amaze everyone. He is using his leg almost all the time and his muscle tone is rapidly improving. The doctors say that it will take a full three to four months for a complete recovery, but Drew doesn't really want to wait that long. He is really enjoying playing with his foster brother and sister, although mom wishes their favorite game wasn't wrestling and running around the house like a herd of elephants!
As Drew's condition improves, we will continue to update his bio.
