Dr Pepper

Doc was rescued by Coastal not really knowing what his issues were. Doc is very weak in his hind end, he's been seen by one of our doctors and diagnosed with a neurological condition. Potentially he has degenerative myelopathy which means he will slowly lose the use of his hind end. At this point, he has no clue that his back legs don't always want to cooperate! He can get around his foster home with no problem although its a little unorthodox.
We are raising the funds to buy Doc a wheelchair so that he can go for walks - he doesn't need the wheelchair in the house but to go for walks, it will be really helpful.

We know that Doc isn't for everyone but his sheer will to live life to the fullest will touch some family much like he touched the volunteers at Coastal who were determined to save his life.

Update 4/12/10:
We've added a photo of the Doctor with his new wheels! He is learning how to use them and go for walks. Its definitely a process because he is using different muscles and he gets pooped easily. Doc is so content to hang next to his foster mom - he is a sweet, quiet dog with such confidence - he will let you know if there are people out on the street OR if other dogs in the house are getting out of line - he's somewhat of a hall monitor. The doctor is a wonderful gem of a guy. We love him!
