Dot
- Female
Short in stature, Dot is certainly not short of personality. Friendly and outgoing, this approximately 2 year old gal is looking forward to brighter days. We don't know much about her past or how she ended up in the shelter, but we do know that Dot has probably had a litter or two of pups in her recent past. Dot is friendly with other dogs, lights up when she sees kids, and loves to trot along with you for a walk in the great outdoors!
Update 5/11/11
Dot recently moved into a foster home where she has been bathed and brushed, looking more beautiful than ever! After her spa treatment, Dot took to lying on a pillow on her foster mom's bedroom floor looking as content as could be!
Prior to coming to Coastal it is likely she never spent time indoors based on her reaction to all the challenges of a home; including a staircase.
During her first evening in foster care, she experienced all that a busy household has to offer: the noise of a pin ball machine and kids running around, taking it all in, with no signs of anxiety.
There were no issues when being introduced to her large foster brother. Dot expressed a little annoyance when the small foster dog sibling started jumping around and barking but both were fine once the little dog settled down.
Dot shows no interest with the cats other than a little sniff, even after the cat took a swipe at her (she didn't do anything to elicit it), but she is now staying far away! She also has no great interest in the resident guinea pigs.
She is very food motivated and is being taught boundaries with regard to that. Dot was tested and exhibited no aggressive behavior issues when being fed.
It appears no one in her previous life bothered to teach her any commands, so her foster mom is working on those. She has a mild energy level and walks beautifully on the leash!
