Deuce
- Female
When we first took Deuce in, we were relatively certain that the best we could do is give him a week or two of good food and comfort. We had to carry him to walk, help him go to the bathroom and coax him to eat. If he did get up in the house, he was clearly not housebroken and would go where he stood. He was weak, extremely depressed and appeared on the brink of crossing the rainbow bridge.
After spending a day with the vet, we altered some medication, added some supplements and made Deuce as comfortable as we could. And waited for the dreadful day that we felt was right time to say goodbye......WELL.....we stand corrected!
After about a month of care, we have a different dog in our midst! Deuce now regularly climbs on the couch and wanders quietly around the yard of his foster home. He stays inside all the time and was housebroken within a handful of days learning the ropes. He has a magnificent appetite, is a delight to have around and we would love to find a retirement home for him.
Deuce isn't young but he definitely has some life left to live. Our best guess is that he is 9 years old based on the paperwork history that we were provided from the shelter. Surely there is someone out there that will open their heart & home to help right the terrible wrong done to Deuce in his twilight years.
