Delilah

  • Female

Our Delilah has a mysterious past that we believe included terrible neglect. When she was just a puppy, this classic black & red German Shepherd was obviously left outside all the time somewhere with rampant and uncontrolled flies. With nothing applied to protect the tips of her ears, they were mercilessly bitten away. Scar tissue has formed where her ears healed, leaving them slightly rounded, instead of pointed. To reach this condition, they had to be terribly infected and painful, but it didn’t damage her spirit or her love for people!

Only about a year old, Delilah is still growing and will fill out to be a sturdy girl on the smaller side. She’s active and playful, helping to keep her older foster siblings in terrific shape! She has all her shots, has been spayed, wormed and treated for fleas.

Her former owners also neglected to provide her with the training that she needs to learn good manners, so her forever family will have to work with her on obedience. But she’s VERY smart and eager to learn. She loves to ride in the car and gets along well with other friendly dogs of both genders, including small ones (one of her foster sisters is a Beagle). She’s being crate-trained in her foster home, and naps or sleeps soundly in her crate without whining or complaining. This may be the first time she’s had a warm bed to sleep in!
