Dakota
- Female
We found little Dakota slated for euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and were able to get her out just in the nick of time. She’s a very petite young lady with a short, classic black-and-tan coat and a sprinkling of lighter hairs over the back of her neck. She was very thin when she came out of the shelter, but has gained weight steadily and is now a good weight for her size. She’s probably not much more than a year old, so she’ll get a little bigger, but even fully grown she’ll probably top out at well under 60 pounds. She’s had at least one litter of puppies, but now she’s been spayed, dewormed, and is eagerly awaiting her forever family.
Dakota’s foster mom reports that she’s friendly and playful with other dogs, and loves everyone she meets. She’s sweet and affectionate with adults, children, and even toddlers, so she should do well in just about any home. Although she has lots of energy, she also loves to sit quietly next to her foster mom in the house. Although she hasn’t had any obedience training, she’s now crate-trained and seems to have instinctive good manners. She’s very cooperative, corrects easily, and tries really hard. With basic obedience training, consistency, and leadership, we’re confident that Dakota will become a wonderful canine citizen!
