Everyone who meets Cole is astonished that he hasn't been adopted yet. He's charming, soft barken, friendly with people, friendly with other dogs, easier than easy on a leash, good in the house, potty trained, crate trained, and very striking. He's an adult dog who doesn't require too much exercise, won't eat your shoes, won't tear down your drapes, won't turn your sofa into a pile of toothpicks, and will be happy to lay by your feet as you feed your social media habit.

So why do we still have him? He wants to protect you. He'll protect everyone within the home from people he doesn't think should be in the home. He's not Cujo. His head won't spin and explode at the tippy top while he foams at the mouth and barks like a lunatic. No, he's classy about it. He just doesn't understand why you'd allow these burglars into the house when it's clear they want to harm you and steal his biscuits. This is an easy fix, though. You adopt him and start working his basic obedience. You create a relationship with him that includes structure and shows him leadership. He, without much effort, will form a relationship with you that's healthy, as he sees you as the leader and starts to understand what's expected of him. When you have people coming over, initially, you keep him on a leash or crate him. You set it up so that he can't make a bad decision. He's a dog and dogs have been known to make a bad decision or thirty. The more you work with him, the more you'll see those issues disappear. Cole is incredibly smart and just needs someone to show him what's expected of him in your home. 1, 2, 3, happy family!
