Claus

We were alerted to this poor soul before Christmas - the only way we could help him was to raise money quickly to cover hospitalization - we knew he had pneumonia and that is a costly care no matter the age. As always, our supporters came through within 12 hours, giving us the cushion we needed to commit.

When our vets first saw him, they were not hopeful. Pneumonia, severely underweight, skin tabs, you name it. Ordering a slew of tests to "fix him up", Claus had a couple of rough days but then rallied. We were able to move him to a foster home before New Year's and what a grateful, happy boy. The one thing that his foster mom notices is that he never stops wagging his tail!!!! Claus' history is unknown to us but we can try to guess - he has lots of hairless patches (these can be seen in his photos) that the doctors feel are a result of allergies - he likely ate really crappy food through his previous life. He has a number of lumps & bumps along his underside. We have had these biopsied - thankfully, nothing more than fatty tumors.

Claus has come into his foster home like a rock star. Wonderful with other dogs, truly energized to tear around the yard (he spent New Year's Eve chasing a younger dog with a ball - sheer joy)!!!!! He is sleeping in a crate at night and we have yet to hear him bark. Claus is really loving the human attention - we are continuing his medicine and are working on what looks like ear infections (that's probably why he cannot hold his ears straight up). Our best guess is that he is about 9 years old - hard to say as he has been a neglected fellow - while he has elbows the size of baseballs, he doesn't show any sign of discomfort in his gait. He can keep up with a 2 year old who has a hard driving play drive!

Please consider giving this deserving boy his final, forever home.
