Chip was bought from a “Puppy Broker”. He was shipped from TX to Escondido when he was about 8 weeks old. Chip was housebroken by the age of 5 months, knew a few tricks and then next thing he knew he was sent packing to be a backyard dog because he was getting too big for the household.

Long story short, Chip hung out in the backyard for 3 months on his own while the other dog stayed in doors and was treated like a member of the family (she’s a golden retriever). During the fires, he was evacuated and placed in a home where he was crated 17-18 hours for an entire week. They never paid him any attention, and didn’t care that he had pooped in his carte either . . . why you ask????? Because they forgot that he was in the crate.

The mother of the family that had Chip was able to convince them to let him go. Chip’s old family didn’t want to give him up because they wanted a guard dog.

Now Chip is safe at Coastal and is learning a few things . . . like the fact that there are humans out there that really do care about him. He is learning that other dogs are good to hang out with and he doesn’t have to protect himself from them like he used to as a “guard dog”, he learned really fast that being with people at an adoption event is really cool . . . he gets a ton of affection and he’s thinking he likes this new life of his.

Chip is eager to please, he is still a baby and is learning how the world is really a safe place for him and that being loved by 2 legged people is a dream come true!
