Sweet little Chip hit the jackpot! We spotted his tiny sad face and made a call to the shelter. Slated for euthanasia that night, we committed to him immediately. When our volunteer went to pick him up, it was clear that this little 6 week old boy was quite a mix but we couldn't turn away from him.

After taking Chip home, over 30 ticks were discovered on his 5 lb body, along with a blanket of fleas. That the shelter allowed him to stay or become so infested is just heartbreaking. Chip has had about 7 baths - we think we may be down to the last flea colony.

We ran him straight to one of our vets who said he is lucky to be alive with all those parasites. A good worming, good food and a house full of dogs is turning this little guy around. The vet thinks he is pretty healthy and his foster family can attest to that because he scurries from one end of the yard to another.

Chip has a short little tail that never stops its beat - he is very drawn to people and loves his canine sister. He is learning to sleep in a crate and typically heads straight outside to do his business. We don't know how big he will get - only time will tell but we're guessing that he will be a medium sized sweetheart.

A puppy is a 10 to 15 year lifetime commitment which can't be undertaken lightly. You will lose some shoes and you will have a stain or two on your carpet. You'll have vet bills and food bills and will need to make arrangements for vacations, and you will commit to live where you can have a large dog. If you are up to these commitments, you are ready to submit an application!


Our adoption fee for puppies under one year is $350, and any puppies adopted through Coastal are always spayed or neutered.
