Carly

  • Female
  • 1-2 years
  • German Shepherd Dog

We rescued Carly’s mother with her 3 puppies when they were about 2 weeks old. The pups eyes were not even open yet. They had a 4th sibling that was given away prior to us rescuing them. Carly was significantly smaller than her siblings and was also missing a toe on her left hind foot. This probably happened when she was born as she had a scab where the toe should have been. It didn't affect her mobility then or now.

Carly continued to fall behind her siblings when they began weaning and she was diagnosed with Mega-esophagus. She quickly fell behind her already larger siblings due to not being able to keep her food down. With no other option, the vet inserted a stomach tube to give her much needed nutrients and also to give her esophagus a rest.

The feeding tube combined with oral medications and upright feeding did the trick and Carly started to get back on track. Once she was eating well by mouth her feeding tube was removed.

A year later...

Carly is a young, dog friendly, people friendly, potty trained, crate trained, beautiful GSD and still available for adoption. We know!

She is a typical German Shepherd puppy who thrives with structure and exercise. A feeding chair will be provided with Carly's adoption, as she has Mega E. Oh, did we mention that? She has Mega E, but doesn't mind one bit eating out of her Bailey Chair and, in all other ways, is your normal everyday pup. She is no longer on any medications and just eats while sitting in her throne. 👑
