Axel

  • Male
  • 1-2 years
  • German Shepherd Dog

Axel was found hit by a car and picked up by animal control. We rescued him when his owners didn't claim him from the shelter, as the facility didn't have the means to help him and we didn't want to see him put down. Axel's leg was so badly shattered, there was absolutely no way to save it. It's sad when we have to make a tough decision to amputate a leg, but it's amazing how quickly they recover and how well they do on three legs!

He has healed fabulously and is ready to find a wonderful family who is willing to take him in and give him the safe environment he should have originally had. He is extremely sweet, loves being pet by our volunteers, has been fine around other dogs, is easy on a leash, crate trained, and an awesome, sweet boy.

He likes other dogs and we haven't seen any reactions or aggression from him. He's met kids at adoption events and, as long as they aren't really little, we think he will do great.
