Ava

  • Female
  • 6-9 years
  • German Shepherd Dog

Ava's best home will be with another dog as she is anxious when left alone but as long as she has a K9 companion, she does well. Cats on the other hand are a big NO! She does not appreciate kitties at all.

Ava had ACL surgery in the past year and is now fully recovered although she does have arthritis in her elbows. At about 9 years old, Ava loves to go for walks albeit slowly given her arthritis.

Ava has pancreatitis which requires a special diet but is easily managed provided she is given the right food. She doesn't see well and can't always hear you but overall she is a happy girl.

Ava needs her person to be willing to spend a fair amount of quality time together, especially in the beginning, to develop a strong sense of trust. She is a very good girl and a small investment of quality time will return rewarding benefits.

Ava's ideal home is one with someone who is home a lot ~ stay at home parent or someone who is self-employed ~ as she does still have some anxiety about being left alone and will need someone who can be patient with her.
