Apollo

  • Male
  • 6-9 years
  • German Shepherd Dog

Apollo was previously used as the stud of a backyard breeder's "operation." When the owner was going in for surgery and couldn't find anyone to watch his outdoor dogs while he recovered, he asked us to "foster" them until he was back on his feet. We said we'd take all of his dogs, have them altered, and find them good homes. He didn't take us up on that offer until the day before his surgery, as he had found no one to care for them during the months he'd need to recover and so he agreed and we took in Apollo, Gretchen (the female used to breed), and their puppies. All have been adopted, except Apollo.

Apollo was born on 6/25/13 and is ready to experience a real life. He doesn't ask for much: a nice place to lay inside and outside, as he loves to sunbathe, and delicious meals, as he LOVES to eat. He was primarily a backyard dog with his previous owner and wasn't socialized with people. He likes female dogs - no male dogs please. There are a few volunteers that he really loves and he prefers men to women.

If you are the kind of person who knows that some dogs need more time to come out of their shell, especially ones who were just kept in a backyard and asked to breed over and over, then you're the kind of person this handsome boy has been waiting to meet. Apollo is good with female dogs, but is timid around people he doesn't know, as he was never socialized in his previous home.
