Alysse was found roaming in a field for an extended period of time when animal control was finally able to catch her. Alysse is naturally timid since no human in her past has proven to be worthy of her trust. She is going into a foster home with other dogs and people so she can learn about what life should be like for a young girl like herself.

Update 4/28/09

Alysse is finally getting her chance to be in a foster home. She has shown such great improvement in the past few months that now it's time for her to shine in a home environment. Alysse is very sweet and timid. She has not made a peep since being in her foster home. She is being crate trained while she is learning the ins and outs of being in a home. Alysse is being introduced to the resident cats. At this time it seems as though she is more terrified of them than anything else.

It is very clear that Alysse trusts her furry foster siblings more than her human foster parents, but we're certain with a little time and patience her faith in people will be restored. Alysse would really like to go to a home with a furry sibling to show her the ropes and give her the extra confidence she needs.
Update 5/20/09

Alysse is progressing in leaps and bounds. As you can see from the updated pictures, Alysse seems much happier these days and we are too.

Initially, she was hesitant to roam freely in the house and preferred the comfort of the crate. These days, she is making herself at home on the couch and dog beds. In fact, she'd rather hang out inside- which is where she belongs. She loves going for walks and is getting more comfortable with the routine.

It's cases like hers that remind us rescuers why we do this. All she needed was a little chance. She has only been in her foster home for 2 weeks and already she is beginning to trust her foster parents- it's amazing how resilient dogs are and what big hearts they have. She seems to already be forgiving the sins of her previous owners and is turning the page on her new life.

Update 12/29/09

Alysse is gaining more and more confidence as the days go by. She now loves being in the house and part of the action and is even known to play with a toy or two!
