Cougar has been adopted! 03-18-2024
Cougar is a beautiful dog who comes to us with a story that will break your heart. In an attempt to re-home Cougar and another dog his previous owner gave both dogs to someone who wasn’t able to provide a secure home. The dogs ran into the street where they were both hit by cars. One dog didn’t survive and poor Cougar, severely injured with 2 broken legs, laid beside his deceased buddy on the side of the road. Animal Control picked up Cougar, who was crying in extreme pain, and brought him to the shelter. Cougar sat in the shelter for days while his owners refused to return calls from the shelter with Cougars pleas for help. When his time at the shelter ran out, they contacted Coastal German Shepherd asking if we could please provide Cougar with medical care as he was still in extreme pain. Our amazing crew jumped into action and rescued Cougar, got him into a secure foster home where he was brought into surgery the following day. The surgeon told us Cougar's injuries were at least a month old, meaning Cougar must have been laying on the side of the road for quite some time - Unbelievable! Cougar has had both legs repaired and has become quite the superstar with everyone he meets. His recovery will be a very long and very expensive process - but we are determined to give this beautiful dog the life he deserves. It’s been 5 weeks since his surgery and he still can’t walk, but his kind and friendly spirit shine through. He has become quick friends with all his new buddies at his foster home and with all the love and support that heaven allows, we are hopeful he can be back on the walking trails sometime in January. Go Cougar!
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
