Monty has been adopted! 08-18-2022
Monty, his two brothers, and mom Tasha came from a sad situation in Bakersfield. They had been abandoned in a field and rescued by a caring group of volunteers who gathered them up, had them examined by a vet, and then placed them with a temporary foster. Other than fleas and ticks, the three puppies were healthy but they had been feeding off of Tasha, the mom, and she was nothing but skin and bones.
When Coastal GSR was asked if we could help, there was no way we could say no. We had a foster family offer their help and we rushed Tasha and her pups to them.
Mom Tasha is a Belgian Malinois. Monty and his brothers appear to be mixes of Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd. (See also Mikey's brothers Milton and Mikey) Despite being born and spending their first month under desperate circumstances, Monty and his brothers are doing great!
Monty looks more like a GSD than a Malinois. But, he is part Malinois so be prepared to give him lots of training, activity and socialization! Monty is the more sensitive of the brothers and can be a little wallflower. He would do great as a one and only dog if a couple or a family are ready to shower him with love and attention. He would be happy to be a family's little sweetheart.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
