Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Alexander has been adopted! 03-05-2022

Male German Shepherd Dog /Belgian Shepherd Malinois mix about 2-3 months old. OK with cats. Gets along with other dogs. Not for homes with kids.

Alexander is one of nine puppies born to a Belgian Malinois mother and a German Shepherd mix father. The mother gave birth to her puppies under an old RV right before a snow storm. A good hearted Samaritan rescued mom and pups and took them home. The puppies' mom is still in Anza with her rescuer. The rescuer asked Coastal German Shepherd to help place the puppies and find them good homes. We were happy to help.

Most of the puppies look like dark colored Malinois. Alexander looks the most GSD of all of them. Alex is non-stop energy and will keep whoever brings him into their family busy. He is in a foster home with his brother Ace and also a large dog (>100 pounds) and several cats. The cats have been schooling Alex that they are for looking at - not playing with.

Alex is a daredevil of a puppy, always willing to try new things. He likes to climb on things, falls off, and goes right back and tries it again. He jumps from table to table, slips, gets hurt, and does it again. Alex is not afraid to wrestle with his >100lb foster brother. He gets bowled over, yelps, then goes right back. He likes adventure and fun.

Alex is not a mean puppy. In fact, he is a very sweet puppy. He will require someone with the experience and patience to consistently correct him, but with love, as he is very sensitive and gets his feelings hurt easily. He's been known to go off and pout. Sounds weird, but its true. Alex can be jealous and will get his feelings hurt if we greet his brother first. Alex will come running up barking to demand attention.

He's a rough and tumble pup who should only be adopted by someone with G.S.D. or Malinois experience. Otherwise he will try to take over and run the roost.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
